Our N, NPT, NS & NA Stamps from the ASME, along with compliance to U.S. Federal Regulation 10CFR50 Appendix B, extend Aecon’s reach to the U.S. and international nuclear markets.
The position is located in Pickering, Ontario, reporting to the Procurement Manager. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for negotiating pricing and terms for various commodities, equipment, and services for the OPG Pickering Refurbishment Project.
What You'll Do Here
⦁ Lead and manage the full procurement lifecycle to support project or site success.
⦁ Activities include demand planning, developing procurement plans, tendering, market solicitation, negotiation, contract award, and management.
⦁ Procure equipment, materials, components, and nuclear safety-related materials primarily for use in Canadian nuclear power plants, including items like steel, pipe, valves, electrical components, and PPE.
⦁ Review purchase requisitions for clarity, completeness, quality assurance, funding, delivery, and transportation requirements.
⦁ Prepare and issue RFQs to qualified vendors based on Aecon’s Approved Suppliers List.
⦁ Conduct market research to identify new suppliers that add value.
⦁ Assist in developing project-specific procurement strategies.
⦁ Negotiate major contracts focusing on price, delivery, terms, and conditions.
⦁ Develop and implement procurement strategies, including cost reduction.
⦁ Collaborate with operations and regional offices for material procurement.
⦁ Support estimating team during tendering.
⦁ Ensure quality, reliability, and responsiveness meet organizational standards.
⦁ Manage logistics and expedite critical deliveries.
⦁ Provide service beyond normal hours as needed.
⦁ Ensure training on the Aecon Quality assurance manual is current.
What You Bring To The Team
⦁ 2-3 years experience in nuclear construction procurement or 5+ years in conventional procurement.
⦁ Education in Materials and Operations Management is an asset.
⦁ Enrollment or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred.
⦁ Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of OPG Passport system and SAP is an asset.
⦁ Familiarity with nuclear codes & standards such as ASME, CSA, ASTM.
⦁ Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
⦁ Strong interpersonal, customer service, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
⦁ Knowledge of market trends and sales techniques.
