Job summary

Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is seeking a Custodian/Maintenance worker to perform cleaning, security, and light maintenance across locations within the PVNCCDSB region.

The role requires Grade 10 plus a vocational program or equivalent, and 6–12 months’ related experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate cleaning and small maintenance equipment are required, with WHMIS knowledge and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 plus an additional vocational programme of up to one year or completion of Grade 11 or equivalent; and six months to one year’s work related experience.
• Requires performing minor maintenance and servicing of mechanical, electrical or plumbing services.
• Requires knowledge and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
• Requires familiarity with Board and school policies and procedures; i.e., property rental, emergency situations, fire, etc.
• Requires effective communication skills to cooperatively work with Board staff, students and the public.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and security of buildings/grounds/equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance on mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment; receive and store supplies.
• Order and maintain custodial supply inventory and MSDS records.
• Respond to emergencies and report issues to supervisors.
• Assist with security and safety checks and fire drills.
