Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a Custodian to help maintain the appearance of its facilities and support operations under the guidance of the Facilities Operations Manager and Head Custodian.

The role requires a secondary school diploma and at least six months cleaning experience in a school setting; possession of a valid driver’s license is required and some basic maintenance skills are assets. You may be asked to obtain safety certifications after hire.

Qualifications

• A secondary school diploma with at least six months cleaning experience in a school.
• Experience with basic equipment repair is an asset.
• Willingness to obtain required safety certifications after hire.
• Enrolment in BES courses is an asset.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties: dusts, washes and polishes furnishings, cleans washrooms, vacuums and mops floors.
• Strips, waxes and maintains floors; sprays, buffs and polishes as needed.
• Replenishes classroom and washroom supplies.
• Washes windows, ceilings, walls, and light fixtures as required.
• Operates cleaning equipment to carry out tasks.
• Moves furniture and supplies as needed; performs basic maintenance and repairs.
• Works at different buildings to meet operational needs.
