Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is seeking an Early Learning Assistant (Extended Day Program) to support after-school childcare, under the supervision of the Early Childhood Educator. This role focuses on promoting safe, engaging activities for school-age children and maintaining a positive environment.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, relevant childcare experience, and current First Aid/CPR certification, with police and health clearances as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of post-secondary childcare experience.
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C from a WSIB-approved provider.
• Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector within 6 months for new employees.
• Immunization record with MMR and Tdap vaccination.
• Declaration of having had chickenpox (or chickenpox vaccination).
• Equivalency of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing childcare after school in the Extended Day Program.
• Enhance child-based play and encourage positive behaviour.
• Support the Early Childhood Educator and program objectives as needed.
