Job summary

West Point Grey Academy is seeking an After School Care Worker for the 2026-27 school year. This part-time role runs about 15 hours per week from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional extra hours for early dismissal days and Pro-D days.

The role supports students in Kindergarten to Grade 5, helping plan and lead developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor activities, supervise children, and maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with children.
• Completion of a 20-hour Responsible Adult Course, or combination of courses totaling at least 20 hours in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (or equivalent training).
• Emergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (can be taken after start date).

• Daily set up and take down of equipment
• Provide active supervision to ensure children are accounted for at all times
• Build and maintain respectful relationships with children
• Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviours
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for children to play

• Assist with activity set up and take down as required

Job description

West Point Grey Academy is currently seeking an After School Care Worker for the 2026-27 School Year. This is a part-time position, approximately 15 hours per week, from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with additional hours scheduled for child care on early dismissal days and professional development (Pro-D) days. Note: This program follows the school calendar; shifts are only scheduled while school is in session.

This posting will remain open until filled.

WPGA's After School Care Program for children is an optional program for students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 5. After School Care workers help plan and lead engaging indoor and outdoor activities for students in this program.

After School Care workers report to the After School Care Supervisor.

Successful candidates will be expected to agree to have a Criminal Record Check initiated by West Point Grey Academy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities

• Experience working or volunteering with children
• Completion of a 20-hour responsible adult course, or a combination of courses at least 20 hours in duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (or alternative training)
• Emergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (can be taken after start date)
  

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work hours are 2:30 to 5:30 pm on days when school is in session (program runs to 5:00 pm)
  
• Occasional longer shifts for Pro-D days or early dismissal days (scheduled in advance)
• Shifts scheduled when school is in session
