Job summary

The City of Vancouver is hiring an After-Hours Public Works Dispatcher to handle high-volume clerical tasks, dispatch crews and respond to after-hours emergencies. You will use Hansen, SAP and GIS tools to record information, track work history, and assist with payroll time entry while collaborating with police, fire and public agencies as required.

Roles require flexibility to cover 24/7 shifts, including overnights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent with basic software training.
• Strong data entry and numeric skills with attention to detail.
• Preference for public works dispatch and operator experience.

Responsibilities

• Research utility information for crews and the public from maps and databases.
• Monitor and respond to system alarms and dispatch crews accordingly.
• Enter payroll time and costs in SAP; maintain records and files.
• Coordinate with City staff, Police and Fire during emergencies when required.
• Distribute information to internal offices and external agencies as needed.
