Job summary

MAHC is seeking a Hospital Supervisor to provide after-hours leadership and operational oversight across the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital sites. The role coordinates patient flow, staffing and quality initiatives to ensure safe, efficient care aligned with our Mission, Vision and Values.

Responsibilities include supervising shifts, collaborating with departments, monitoring staffing levels and patient acuity, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate level preparation preferred in a healthcare related field.
• 3 years current progressive experience in related clinical setting.
• Certified leadership courses an asset.
• Previous management experience an asset.
• Excellent computer skills having worked with Microsoft Office, Word, Teams, and Excel.
• Awareness of community supports and services for identified populations would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership to support safe, high-quality patient care across hospital sites
• Coordinate patient flow, bed utilization, admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize capacity and access to care
• Supervise staff during assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and timely decision-making
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and hospital departments to ensure effective care delivery and resource utilization
• Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and nurse-to-patient ratios, making adjustments as operational needs change
• Promote a culture of patient safety by supporting quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance
• Respond to patient, family, and staff concerns, facilitating timely resolution and escalating issues as appropriate
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, collective agreements, and applicable legislation
• Investigate and follow up on incidents, adverse events, and workplace health and safety concerns
• Support hospital operations through effective communication, handover reporting, and continuous improvement of patient care processes
