Job summary

Family and Children’s Services Niagara is seeking an After Hours Worker to provide child protection services after regular hours and on weekends. Responsibilities include receiving emergency referrals, conducting checks, and coordinating with a supervisor for immediate safety decisions.

The role requires a BA or a related diploma, two years of experience, knowledge of CAS and Ontario child welfare legislation, and a valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle access.

Qualifications

• BA in Humanities or diploma in Social Services.
• 2 years related work experience.
• Familiar with eligibility spectrum screening tool and CAS programs.
• Knowledge of Ontario child welfare legislation (CYFS Act, Ministry standards, etc.).
• Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Availability for all scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities

• Receive and record emergency child protection referrals and assign eligibility spectrum codes.
• Complete required electronic file searches and fast track checks.
• Consult with Supervisor to assess immediate safety and need for intervention.
• Seek direction on apprehensions, placements and follow-up services.
• Complete mandatory documentation.
• Keep Supervisor apprised of situations and service delivery status.
• Participate in team meetings and support colleagues.
