Job summary

Canada Rocket Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Designer to own the mechanical hardware for the E1 Engine, translating system requirements into robust, flight‑ready designs and guiding them from concept through test and flight. You will work across structures, avionics, fluids, and propulsion in CAD, analysis, manufacturing discussions, and test execution.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design and development for aerospace or similarly demanding hardware.
• Strong ownership of mechanical components from concept through design, build, test, and deployment.
• Proficiency in CAD and drawing creation for manufacturable hardware definitions.
• Solid fundamentals in statics, strength of materials, tolerance stack‑ups, fits, and practical hardware design.
• Ability to perform engineering analyses using first principles and FEM/FEA tools, with good judgment on depth of analysis.
• Experience integrating mechanical hardware with adjacent systems across disciplines.
• Knowledge of MM manufacturing processes, producibility, cost, quality, and scheduling.
• Ability to work in a fast, cross‑functional hardware development environment.
• Excellent communication across design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of mechanical hardware and assemblies for the E1 Engine and variants.
• Manage mechanical systems from concept through design, supplier discussions, manufacturing, testing, and flight integration.
• Translate requirements into mechanical concepts and release hardware meeting functional, structural, thermal, and reliability targets.
• Develop CAD models, drawings, interfaces, and release packages for prototype to flight configurations.
• Perform hand calculations and FEM/FEA analyses for strength, stiffness, thermal effects, and tolerances.
• Package and integrate hardware within tight vehicle environments balancing accessibility and mass.
• Collaborate with structures, avionics, propulsion, fluids, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure cohesive designs.
• Support design‑for‑manufacture and design‑for‑assembly decisions, considering manufacturing interfaces.
