Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Canada seeks an Advisor, Safety Management System (SMS) to proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate product safety risks in aerospace. You will advise senior management and drive SMS standards, tools, and processes across multidisciplinary teams to enhance safety outcomes.

You will map and optimize business processes, monitor SMS effectiveness, conduct risk assessments, and lead strategic safety initiatives, supported by strong leadership and bilingual

Qualifications

• Technical college degree or bachelor’s in aerospace or related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience in aerospace.
• Knowledge of SMS regulations (SM-0001) is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior management on Product Safety and risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop, implement, and optimize SMS standards, tools, and processes.
• Assess SMS effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Identify product safety hazards, conduct risk assessments, and plan contingencies.
• Lead SMS initiatives and coordinate cross‑functional projects.
• Define and optimize business processes to improve safety and performance.
• Conduct industry research and benchmark safety practices.
• Support organizational change while communicating key processes.

What are your contributions to the team?

The Advisor, Safety Management System is responsible for proactively identifying, analyzing, and mitigating product safety risks to prevent aircraft accidents and incidents:

• Advise senior management on Product Safety and risk mitigation strategies to improve organizational processes, operational performance, and overall safety outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and optimize Safety Management System (SMS) standards, tools, and processes, and provide training and guidance to staff to ensure effective deployment.
• Assess and monitor the effectiveness of SMS implementation, recommending improvements to organizational methods, operational processes, and safety procedures.
• Identify Product Safety hazards, conduct investigations, perform risk assessments, and develop contingency and problem‑solving plans to support continuous improvement across the organization.
• Lead and coordinate Product Safety initiatives and strategic projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement process improvements and strengthen SMS effectiveness.
• Define, map, and optimize business processes to improve operational efficiency, safety outcomes, and overall organizational performance.
• Conduct research on industry practices, participate in consultative organizations, and provide recommendations to enhance safety management processes and benchmark best practices.
• Support organizational change initiatives that could have an impact on product safety, including facilitation of problem‑solving workshops and communication of key processes to stakeholders.

How to thrive in this role?

• You possess a technical college degree or bachelor’s in aerospace or in another technical related field.
• You have a minimum of 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in the aerospace industry.
• You are knowledgeable of SMS related regulations and international standards ("SM-0001").
• You have experience with project management principles and tools (an asset).
• You have experience with risk management principles and tools (an asset).
• You possess strategic outlook.
• You possess leadership skills.
• You are innovative.
• You possess strong interpersonal skills.
• You are skilled at influencing others.
• You are bilingual in written and oral French and English (essential).
• You master the Microsoft Office suite.
