Job summary

Bombardier Dorval, QC is seeking an HSE specialist to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives on the shop floor. You will guide production teams, perform risk assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting continuous improvement.

Fluent French, a degree in HSE, and at least 5 years in ISO-certified manufacturing are required. The role offers a weekend-focused schedule with flexible weekday hours and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HSE or related field.
  • Fluent in French (spoken and written).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ISO-certified, unionized manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance, support, and influence to production teams to promote a strong HSE culture.
  • Conduct HSE audits and inspections with internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical specialist on ergonomics, machine safety, environmental matters.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners based on trust and respect.
  • Ensure site legal compliance in HSE by conducting audits and corrective actions.
  • Participate in governance meetings to ensure regulatory integration.
  • Contribute to Local HSE committees and conduct risk assessments.
  • Develop safety instructions and support prevention efforts.
  • Assist in accident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support development of HSE programs and tools.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Provide daily guidance, support, and influence to production teams and internal services to promote a strong preventive Health, Safety & Environment culture.
  • Conduct HSE audits and inspections with internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical specialist for clients and colleagues on topics such as ergonomics, machine safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental matters.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners based on trust and respect (clients, union representatives).
  • Ensure the site’s legal compliance in HSE by conducting audits and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Participate in project governance meetings to ensure the application and integration of regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the Local HSE committees for the assigned area.
  • Perform on-site qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
  • Apply a rigorous risk management approach: hazard identification, implementation of mitigation measures, and monitoring of their effectiveness.
  • Develop task specific safety instructions to support prevention efforts.
  • Participate in accident investigations and the development of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of HSE programs and tools.
  • Support internal alignment by ensuring the application of HSE processes (operational procedures and management system requirements).
  • Analyze trends in HSE data to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HSE or a related field (e.g., relevant ASP Construction certification).
  • You are fluent in French (spoken and written).
  • You have at least 5 years of experience, preferably in an ISO certified and unionized manufacturing environment.
  • You possess strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • You are solution oriented and committed to continuous improvement.
  • You are autonomous, organized, and capable of coordinating the implementation of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You can prioritize tasks and adjust in response to new demands in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • You have strong skills in simplifying and synthesizing information.
  • You possess excellent computer skills.

Note: The work schedule is weekend-focused (required attendance on Saturdays and Sundays), with the remaining hours worked flexibly during the week.
