Description:

ATCO Frontec is seeking an on-site Health, Safety, Environment, And Quality (HSEQ) Advisor to join our Camp Services team at Artemis Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia, approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver. The HSEQ Advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, coaching, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the HSEQ Management Program overall for the lodge. They are a key member of a multi-disciplinary team and assist in the mitigation and management of HSE risks.

The salary for this position is $90,000.00. Rates may be subject to change.

Responsibilities:

  1. Completing regular site audits, providing staff training and overall stewardship of the HSEQ program. This person is responsible for consulting staff and setting work standards in accordance with ATCO’s Safety Standards.
  2. Develops, implements, reviews and updates company procedures, manuals and other HSE documentation as required.
  3. Completes work site inspections, evaluates workplace procedures, completes job and workplace hazard analysis as well as develops work site procedures.
  4. Manages and conducts site inspections and audit programs.
  5. Follow-up to ensure closure of corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
  6. Assists in the processing, tracking, recording and reporting of accidents and incident data (e.g. total reportable injury rate, lost time injury rate, etc.).
  7. Instructs and coaches site and by extension Frontec on the importance of HSEQ related responsibilities as defined by Company policy, as well as federal and provincial regulations.
  8. Monitors and tracks changes and updates in HSEQ legislation.
  9. Manage the site ERP program, from annual updates to mock and tabletop drills.
  10. Compile data and assists in the preparation of periodic KPI reporting and all HSE reports.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary education in Health and Safety is required.
  2. CRSP Designation or scheduled to complete designation.
  3. A minimum of seven years of experience in Health and Safety is required.
  4. Experience with OHS cultural turnarounds; specifically in remote locations considered an asset.
  5. Possess a logical, methodical approach to his/her work and must be accurate when taking measurements and recording figures.
  6. Experience and knowledge of health, safety and environment management systems are an asset.
  7. HSE data input, analysis, and report generation/manipulation skills are an asset.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak and write French would be considered an asset.
  9. Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
  10. Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.
