Job summary

Newmont Corporation in British Columbia seeks a Casual Advanced Care Paramedic to join the Red Chris mine team. You will provide frontline medical support in a remote, fly-in/fly-out camp, delivering emergency care, injury assessment, and patient transfers as needed.

Working in a safety-focused, inclusive environment, you will collaborate with the on-site medical team and external providers, maintain accurate medical records, and participate in health promotion and emergency preparedness

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of emergency medical services experience, preferably in an industrial or remote setting.
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience supporting air and ground patient transfers.
  • Valid ACP certification in British Columbia, ACLS and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced emergency medical care, including trauma response and patient stabilization.
  • Manage occupational injuries and illnesses with timely assessment and treatment.
  • Administer medications and operate advanced life support equipment per protocols.
  • Coordinate ground and air patient transfers when higher care is needed.
  • Maintain clinic inventory and medical supplies.

Red Chris is an open-pit copper-gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation – we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine’s life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location foster a close-knit “camp” community where safety and teamwork come first. We are seeking a Casual Advanced Care Paramedic to join our team at Red Chris, providing critical frontline medical support in a dynamic remote mining environment.

Your Impact

As an Advanced Care Paramedic, you will be a critical member of the onsite medical team, providing advanced emergency and occupational healthcare services in a remote mining environment. Your expertise will support emergency response, injury prevention, health promotion, and patient care coordination, helping ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all personnel at Red Chris.

As Part of the Team
  • Provide advanced emergency medical care, including trauma response, patient stabilization, and advanced life support.
  • Manage occupational injuries and illnesses, delivering timely assessment and treatment.
  • Administer medications, perform advanced airway management, and operate cardiac monitoring equipment in accordance with medical protocols.
  • Conduct health assessments, injury surveillance, and fitness-for-work evaluations.
  • Assess patients prior to dispensing over-the-counter medications.
  • Coordinate and accompany patients during ground and air transfers when higher levels of care are required.
  • Maintain clinic inventory, medical supplies, and medication ordering processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Registered Nurse, Emergency Response Team, and external healthcare providers.
  • Ensure all medical equipment, supplies, and emergency response kits remain operational and ready for use.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support health promotion initiatives, site safety programs, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and extended-hour support as operational needs require.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) certification in British Columbia.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications.
  • 7-10 years of emergency medical services experience, preferably in an industrial or remote setting.
  • Experience supporting both ground and air patient transfers.
  • ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience assessing transport risks and patient needs in challenging environments.
Work Environment

This role is based at our Red Chirs operation on a fly-in/fly-out rotation. You'll work in a remote camp environment where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence are critical. The position involves exposure to rugged terrain, varying weather conditions, and industrial work environments while providing frontline medical support to a diverse workforce.

The expected hourly rate for this role is $71.00. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
