Job summary

The Township of Langley is recruiting for up to ten Advanced Aquatics and First Aid Instructors to support Recreation Programs and Services. Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, these unionized roles will instruct a range of advanced programs for participants of various ages and abilities, requiring strong leadership and exceptional customer service.

A Police Information Check will be required upon consideration for employment.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with related experience in programs and activities
• Sound knowledge of recreation programs, practices, and objectives
• Ability to organize, lead and participate in recreation programs and activities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with participants, recreation staff and volunteers
• Additional certifications are considered an asset

Job Overview

The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to ten Advanced Aquatics and First Aid Instructors to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Arts and Culture Division, Recreation Programs and Services Department. Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will apply your advanced knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise to instruct a variety of Advanced Aquatic and First Aid programs for participants of various ages, abilities and interests. This position will appeal to applicants who have strong leadership and communication skills and are committed to excellence in customer service.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).

Position Title and Rate of Pay:

• Recreation Instructor 2 (RI 2) $33.03 – $36.69 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 3 (RI 3) $34.25 - $37.92 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 4 (RI 4) $35.47 - $39.14 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 5 (RI 5) $36.69 - $40.37 (4 steps, 2026 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
