Job summary

Google Canada in Waterloo, Ontario is hiring an Ads Threat Intelligence specialist to defend the Ads ecosystem with cutting-edge threat intelligence and AI-powered insights.

The role will involve threat data analysis, collaboration with Ads Quality, Trust and Safety, YouTube, and Google Play, and translating findings for both technical and non-technical audiences. Competence in security engineering and data analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related security field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in security engineering, threat intelligence, trust and safety, or related abuse-fighting field.
• Programming in Python, Go, C++, or Java.
• Data analysis skills including SQL and pattern detection.
• Master's or PhD preferred in CS, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Experience with ML models and anomaly detection.
• Understanding of adversarial TTPs and mapping to intelligence frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, STIX, Diamond Model).
• Strong communication skills to convey complex findings to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Operate at the cutting edge of threat defence by building innovative solutions protecting the Ads ecosystem.
• Decode adversarial TTPs and map behaviours to intelligence frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, STIX, and Diamond Model.
• Investigate datasets using data analysis and SQL to uncover patterns or anomalies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Ads Quality, Trust and Safety, GBO, YouTube, and Google Play.
• Partner with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
• Monitor systems for attacks and intrusions as part of Google's Security team mandate.
• Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional investigations and contribute to attribution of threat campaigns or vulnerabilities.
