Google Waterloo, ON is seeking a Security Engineer to help protect billions of users and a multi‑billion dollar global business. You will work with Ads engineering and research teams to identify vulnerabilities, investigate incidents, and translate complex findings into actionable guidance.

The role combines security engineering with threat intelligence in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Candidates have a Bachelor's in CS or related field and at least 2 years handling security

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related security field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in security engineering, threat intelligence, trust and safety, or a related abuse‑fighting field.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, C++, or Java.
• Experience working with data analysis, SQL, and investigating datasets to uncover patterns or anomalies.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Experience working with machine learning models and applying ML techniques to classification or anomaly detection problems.
• Experience leading cross‑functional investigations, attributing threat campaigns, or discovering novel systemic vulnerabilities.
• Understanding of adversarial Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), with experience mapping behaviors to intelligence frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, STIX, Diamond Model).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders and partner teams.
