Google Waterloo is seeking a Security Engineer for Ads Threat Intelligence to defend the Ads ecosystem against evolving attacks. You will analyze threat data, develop detection methods, and drive investigations across teams such as Ads Quality, Trust and Safety, GBO, YouTube, and Google Play.

Qualifications

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related security field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in security engineering, threat intelligence, trust and safety, or a related abuse‑fighting field.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, C++, or Java.
• Experience working with data analysis, SQL, and investigating datasets to uncover patterns or anomalies.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• Experience working with machine learning models and applying ML techniques to classification or anomaly detection problems.
• Experience leading cross-functional investigations, attributing threat campaigns, or discovering novel systemic vulnerabilities.
• Understanding of adversarial Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), with experience mapping behaviors to intelligence frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, STIX, Diamond Model).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and partner teams.
