Job description

The Team
Join our established and collaborative Bilingual and Deputy District Registrar (DDR) Teams, where we provide essential court administration services in both French and English, The Bilingual Team consists of seven professionals across three roles, while the DDR Team includes nine members who carry out important quasi-judicial responsibilities. Working closely with the judiciary, court clerks, and sheriffs, this team plays a key role in the processing of civil and family court matters.

The Role
As a Bilingual Deputy District Registrar, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both English and French-speaking litigants across the province as they navigate the divorce process in Supreme Court. This quasi-judicial role is essential to promoting equitable access to justice by guiding individuals through proper filing procedures, especially for those exercising their right to receive services in French.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (e.g. GED).
  • 2 years recent experience working in a legal environment, or 1 year experience working in Court Administration.
  • Experience using computers and software programs (e.g. Windows, MS Word, Excel).
  • Must be able to qualify for signing authority as a Deputy District Registrar within 6 months of appointment to the position.
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm
  • Must be fluent in speaking, writing, and reading French and English


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Signing authority as a Deputy District Registrar.
  • 1 year of experience working in Court Administration.
  • Experience working in Civil Programs.
  • Experience working in Civil Electronic Information System (CEIS).

Combinations of relevant experience, education and/or training may result in an applicant meeting these requirements.

PROVISO/WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS:

  • Must be willing to complete relevant training programs.
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.
  • May be required to work flexible hours on short notice, including varied shifts.
  • May be required to work overtime on short notice.
  • May be required to work in other areas of Court Services Branch.
  • Must pass enhanced security screening checks.
  • Union membership is required.
