Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking an Administrative Support II for the Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre. You will support the Patient and Embedded Retail Food Service program with clerical tasks, data entry and patient information management.
The role requires Grade 12, minimum 1 year of healthcare food service and customer service experience, and the ability to communicate in English. 0.28 FTE with shifts as per rotation, working 6.25/4.50 hours per shift; salary $24.28–$29.51 per hour

As a dedicated member of the Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing nutritious, healthy, high-quality meal service to patients, residents, staff, visitors and the community. This Regular Part Time position is located at Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital and will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident and customer experience.Under the general supervision of a NFS Supervisor, you will use your customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to (if applicable to role) receive and process orders; prepare financial reports; vendor management; process of payment of event costs; any cash handling duties; follow established procedures to maintain patient information related to meal service; processes food preferences, menus and/or tray tickets, food allergies, intolerances and meal tallies; effectively communicate with other departments on matters related to patient meals, snacks, nourishment supplies; adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines; complete other clerical duties as required. This position also supports with the completion of Patient Satisfaction Surveys with patients. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy; Work under pressure in high-stress situations; Demonstrate critical thinking skills and initiative; Communicates effectively in English with customers, patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments; Work as an effective, professional team member with a focus on exceptional patient and family-centered care.
As an Administrative Support II, you will require administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Proven experience working with diet terminology & guidelines is required. Minimum, standard for typing is 35 words per minute, and an assessment of skills will be performed. Minimum 1 year experience in commercial or healthcare food service environment. Minimum 1 year customer service experience is required. This position may require you to be able to bend, lift, push, and pull items up to 20lbs. To ensure safety, effective written and verbal communication in English is required. All new employees will be required to attend a 2-day New Employee Orientation followed by an on site orientation shift. Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary administrative assistant/clerical education or education in a related field. Experience with basic mathematical skills. One year of experience working in a diet office setting is preferred. Experience with CBORD, ConnectCare, RMID and Formula Calculator.
A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with AHS.
