About Round Lake Treatment Centre

Round Lake Treatment Centre (RLTC) is a First Nations non-profit, CARF-accredited residential addiction treatment centre. Our guiding philosophy is “Culture is Treatment.” We understand healing through relationships, cultural connection, personal responsibility and the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions of wellness.

Our structured, group-based treatment brings together Indigenous ways of knowing, cultural teachings and ceremonies, 12-Step and Wellbriety recovery principles, and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches. Elders, Knowledge Keepers and cultural leaders are essential partners whose teachings and authority we respect.

Our four core values guide our work: accepting responsibility for personal wellness; living with integrity, responsibility, accountability and gratitude; honouring individual differences and achievements; and being compassionate, respectful, supportive, encouraging and cooperative.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Addictions & Wellness Team Lead who is committed to culturally grounded healing, recovery and the professional growth of Wellness Facilitators. Reporting to the Program Director, this is a working leadership role combining counselling and group facilitation with day-to-day guidance, mentorship and coordination of the counselling team.

The successful candidate understands addiction, trauma, stages of change and readiness for treatment, and can support sound therapeutic practice while building a respectful, capable and collaborative team.

What You Will Contribute
Culturally Grounded Therapeutic Practice and Recovery
  • Model RLTC’s Culture is Treatment philosophy and support the respectful integration of cultural teachings, ceremony, 12-Step and Wellbriety principles, and evidence-informed approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with Elders, Knowledge Keepers and cultural leadership, honouring cultural protocols and authority.
  • Support trauma-informed, culturally safe counselling, group facilitation, treatment readiness, relapse prevention and recovery planning.
  • Maintain direct counselling, facilitation and client responsibilities as assigned.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Guide, mentor and coach Wellness Facilitators with varying levels of training and experience through clear expectations, constructive feedback and reflective practice.
  • Support orientation, training, competency development, team communication and consistent professional boundaries.
  • Identify practice concerns and learning needs, working with the Program Director on appropriate follow-up.
  • Help create a team environment grounded in trust, cooperation, professional responsibility and respect.
Therapeutic Quality and Client Care
  • Support continuity of therapeutic and recovery services throughout residential treatment cycles, including case discussions and team meetings as assigned.
  • Provide guidance on assessment, client engagement, treatment planning, documentation and discharge preparation.
  • Review therapeutic and client records for quality and consistency; assist with file audits and improvements.
  • Recognize client safety concerns and clinical complexities, and seek timely consultation or escalation within established responsibilities.
  • Coordinate respectfully with Client Support Workers, nursing personnel and other disciplines within their professional scopes.
CARF Accreditation and Program Coordination
  • Support everyday adherence to applicable CARF standards, RLTC procedures, client rights, confidentiality and ethical practice.
  • Contribute to quality improvement through documentation review, client feedback, program monitoring and staff learning.
  • Assist the Program Director with daily program coordination, reporting and assigned responsibilities during absences, within clearly delegated authority.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Significant experience in addictions counselling, group facilitation and recovery-oriented treatment; residential treatment experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide or lead Wellness Facilitators and support their developing therapeutic competencies.
  • Sound knowledge of addiction, trauma-informed care, stages of change, recovery readiness, group processes, ethical practice and client safety.
  • Understanding of First Nations histories, the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma, cultural safety and Indigenous approaches to healing.
  • Experience with case consultation, treatment planning, professional documentation and collaborative service delivery.
  • Relevant education and professional training in addictions, counselling, social work, psychology, Indigenous wellness or a related discipline.
Professional Certification — Required

Applicants must hold a current, recognized professional certification or registration relevant to addictions counselling or clinical practice. Relevant credentials may include Indigenous Certification Board of Canada (ICBOC) certification; Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC); Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC); Registered Social Worker or Registered Clinical Social Worker (RSW/RCSW); Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC); or another recognized credential appropriate to the position. Proof of current certification or registration is required.

Additional Assets
  • Experience in a First Nations treatment centre or Indigenous-led wellness organization.
  • Experience mentoring colleagues or providing practice consultation or qualified clinical supervision.
  • Training in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural approaches or other relevant therapeutic modalities.
  • Familiarity with CARF accreditation, quality improvement and employee competency development.
The Program Lead We Are Looking For

You are an experienced, appropriately credentialed therapeutic professional who leads by example. You are approachable, grounded and confident in your knowledge while open to learning. You support colleagues with patience and clarity, communicate honestly and respectfully, and understand that compassion and accountability belong together.

You recognize that clients enter treatment with different experiences and levels of readiness. You respect Indigenous knowledge and cultural authority, are able to uphold cultural programming, and you believe in the capacity of both clients and colleagues to heal, learn and grow.

Why Join RLTC?

You will contribute directly to client recovery while helping strengthen a culturally grounded therapeutic team. This is an opportunity to develop others, support consistent and meaningful treatment, and work alongside dedicated colleagues, Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

We invite you to describe how your therapeutic experience, recovery knowledge and approach to mentoring others align with Culture is Treatment.
