Nelson House Medicine Lodge in Manitoba is seeking a Treatment Counsellor for a full-time 40-hour week within an eight-week inpatient program. You will conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver evidence-based treatment for substance use and concurrent disorders, promoting person-centered care and safety.

The role requires integrating Indigenous healing practices into healing plans, facilitating group sessions, and contributing to treatment planning and evaluation.

Staff are required to work a rotating schedule, alternating every two weeks between 8:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.– 9:00 p.m. The position also requires availability for some weekends, and statutory holidays based on program needs.The Nelson House Medicine Lodge works with adults with medium to high levels of mental health and substance use disorders who may been exposed to significant serious or long-lasting trauma. Staff shall be aware of the inherent risks of working with this at-risk population served as well as other risks that may occur with new admissions.JOB SUMMARY:As a vital member of our treatment team, this role will involve conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering treatment services within the eight (8)-week inpatient treatment program.The successful candidate will possess considerable knowledge of Best Practices and Standards in substance use disorders and concurrent disorders, enhancing treatment outcomes. The Treatment Counsellor will promote person-centered care and incorporate traditional and cultural practices into the healing plans of our Relatives In Recovery.This role demands expertise in counselling and therapy techniques, group facilitation, assessments, treatment planning, and evaluation. Strong human relations skills are essential to guide, influence, and motivate others in achieving the Lodge’s goals.
