Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Unit Clerk for the Internal Medicine, Medical Teaching Unit at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. This casual/relief role supports nurse leadership, maintains confidential patient records, transcribes orders, handles reception duties and helps coordinate tests and discharges.

The incumbent will collaborate with health professionals, assist with administrative tasks, and help ensure smooth unit flow while handling multiple priorities in a busy inpatient

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Willingness to work and cross train to unit 36.
• Must have IM unit clerk experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families.
• Maintain patient records and charts and transcribe/ process physician orders.
• Reception, greeting and directing visitors and health professionals.
• Schedule patient tests and treatments and support unit administrative tasks.
