Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Medicine Hat is seeking a Unit Clerk to ensure the efficient flow of communication among health professionals, patients and families, while maintaining patient confidentiality. You will also handle reception, record keeping, physician order transcription and scheduling of tests or treatments.

The role is a temporary part-time position at 0.49 FTE with day and evening shifts. Applicants require a Grade 12 or equivalent and completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintain patient records and charts, transcribe and process physician orders, and schedule patient tests and/or treatments.
• Greet and direct visitors, patients and health professionals; perform reception and general administrative tasks.
• Perform a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Education

Grade 12 or equivalent
