Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a collaborative Manager for Unit 23 – General Surgery and Trauma at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. You will provide operational and clinical leadership for an acute inpatient unit, overseeing staffing, resources, patient flow and quality initiatives to deliver safe, high-quality care.

You will work with physicians, Trauma Services and operational partners to support coordinated care, staff development and continuous improvement in surgical and trauma services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health-related field; current professional registration in good standing.
• Minimum five years of healthcare experience; leadership potential or formal/informal leadership experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate within a complex healthcare environment and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and staffing for Unit 23 – General Surgery and Trauma.
• Lead workforce planning, resource utilization and patient flow to improve efficiency.
• Promote quality improvement, patient safety and family-centered care.
• Support staff development, engagement and a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
