Job summary

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in Ottawa, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver is seeking a Specialist in Actuarial Services within the Finance - Insurance and Securitization team. This temporary 12-month role focuses on actuarial forecasting, financial statement projections, and capital planning to support CMHC’s housing affordability goals.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate quantitative degree, IC/SOA designation or working toward, and at least five years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
• Five years of related work experience.
• Experience with actuarial valuation, financial modelling, capital adequacy, and risk management.
• Experience in a technological environment using Python and R.

Responsibilities

• Support development and maintenance of Financial Statement models projecting CMHC’s finance and capital position under various economic scenarios.
• Perform calculations, projections, analysis and reports for Corporate Plan, Capital Plan, Dividend Recommendation, Stress Testing, Financial Condition Testing and Pricing oversight.
• Provide interpretation and guidance on financial impact of new products and initiatives on CMHC’s statements and capital position.
• Ensure adequate controls are documented for all relevant processes.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements in insurance valuation, capital adequacy and related actuarial fields.
