Job summary

RBC Insurance invites applications for an Actuarial Co-op Student in Mississauga. You will gain hands-on experience across pricing, valuation, risk and capital, applying actuarial methods to real-world insurance problems.

You will work with AXIS, R, SQL and Excel to produce analyses, validate assumptions, and communicate findings to stakeholders. A university degree pursuit in actuarial fields and CAS/SOA progress are valued.

Qualifications

• MS Office knowledge required.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Highly motivated self-starter and team player.
• Pursuing a university degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Actuarial exposure/background 2-3 CAS/SOA exams completed.
• Experience with Moody’s/GGY AXIS.
• Knowledge of IFRS17, predictive analytics and Tableau is an asset.
• Programming experience in R, VBA and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Learn, influence, and innovate end-to-end aspects of the business ranging from sales to pricing and valuation to risk & capital.
• Create pricing and valuation models for complex and high-impact products from an actuarial perspective.
• Assist in validation of key assumptions, gathering and applying market competition, and using insights to identify trends/opportunities.
• Use AXIS, R, SQL and MS Excel to produce and analyze results, communicating findings to stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance tools to streamline processes.
• Collaborate with actuarial and non-actuarial colleagues to achieve success.
• Conduct monthly/quarterly valuation reporting and communicate results to management.
• Model and analyze Special Quotes to better serve clients’ needs.
• Support monthly/quarterly capital measurement analysis and reporting.
