RBC Insurance in Ontario is offering a Winter 2027 Actuarial Co-op Student position. You will gain hands-on experience in pricing, modeling, and valuation within a large bank‑owned insurance business.

Expect structured leadership access and active involvement in multiple actuarial tasks. Applicants pursuing Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics, with CAS/SOA exam progress, and strong Excel/R/SQL capabilities will fit well.

What will you do?
  • Learn, influence, and innovate end-to-end aspects of the business, ranging from Pricing and Modeling to Valuation and Capital. These roles will offer opportunities to gain exposure to all areas of the life insurance business.
  • Create life pricing and valuation models for complex and high-impact products from an actuarial perspective, including but not limited to asset strategy discussions with the RBC Insurance Investment team and liability cash flow management with RBC Risk Management.
  • Assist in validation of key assumptions, gathering and applying market competition insights, and using business insights to identify trends/opportunities.
  • Use software like AXIS, R, SQL, and MS Excel to produce and analyze results, communicate findings to respective stakeholders to obtain their approvals.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance new and existing tools to better streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with fellow actuarial and non-actuarial colleagues to achieve success.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly valuation reporting and communicate results and findings to management.
  • Model and analyze Special Quotes to better serve our clients’ needs.
  • Support monthly/quarterly capital measurement analysis and reporting.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Solid technical and analytical skills with strong problem-solving ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player
Nice to have
  • Pursuing a university degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics
  • Actuarial exposure/background
  • 1-3 CAS/SOA exams completed
  • Previous experience with Moody’s/GGY AXIS
  • Knowledge of IFRS17, predictive analytics and Tableau are definite assets
  • Programing experience in R, VBA and SQL

This posting is for a 4/8-months Winter 2027 Student placement with a start date of January 2027, and end date of April/August 2027. In order to be eligible for this 4/8-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April/August 2027.
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April/August 2027), you must require the full 4/8-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

Please ensure that you meet these eligibility requirements before applying- candidates who apply but are found to be ineligible are not able to be considered.
