Overview
Actuarial Manager, PI Auto Pricing role at Aviva Canada. Reporting to the AVP, you will lead actuarial pricing initiatives for the West personal insurance auto portfolio. You will bring a deep understanding of business needs and regulatory requirements, provide actuarial expertise in product design, corporate planning, and underwriting / segmentation analysis, and partner across functions to develop data-driven pricing solutions. You will lead an actuarial team to drive pricing innovation and ensure smooth implementation of rating plans and algorithm changes. Your insights will influence key decisions and help shape Aviva Canada's pricing strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for the overall performance and people management of an Actuarial Street Pricing team.
- Directly responsible for actuarial methods and assumptions used as well as the overall pricing of West auto personal insurance.
- Lead and support rate reviews for personal insurance auto products. Proactively monitor trends, mix of business, and changes in operational practices that affect personal insurance performance. Effectively communicate the results of the rate reviews to all collaborators and get consensus on rate proposals.
- Improve effectiveness and accuracy in existing processes and procedures. Be forward-thinking and adapt models and techniques to business, product and data structure changes.
- Collaborate with other regional teams to ensure that decisions fit within the overall pricing strategy.
- Coach junior staff members to develop their technical and personal skills. Act as a role model for Aviva values and inspire others to follow them.
- Obtain a deep understanding of the assigned book of business and the Canadian business in general, to explain key factors underlying the emerging experience and provide strategic insights to collaborators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Math, Statistics, or related fields.
- Minimum ACAS / ACIA, FCAS / FCIA is preferred.
- 5+ years of personal insurance pricing experience or 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team.
- Proven ability to manage and complete projects with ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to probe, validate and challenge to ensure accurate insights.
- Entrepreneurial and motivated mindset with ability to translate business requirements into actuarial analysis.
- Effective negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus and influence.
- Excellent working knowledge of regulatory filings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Hands-on as well as managerial experience in scripting/coding, including Python.
- Previous management and leadership experience is an asset.
