Job summary

RBC in Mississauga is seeking an actuarial professional to support IFRS 17 reporting for international product lines. You will assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual actuarial processes and analyze earnings movement in contracts assets and liabilities.

The role emphasizes risk management, including hedge effectiveness tests, ALM assessment, and sensitivity analysis, along with experience studies and data updates. A strong foundation in actuarial concepts is expected with ASA/ACIA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field with actuarial concepts knowledge.
  • ASA/ACIA designation or near ASA.
  • Minimum 2 years actuarial experience with IFRS 17 knowledge.
  • Working experience with Moody’s AXIS system.

Responsibilities

  • Support actuarial financial reporting for international product lines monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Explain earnings by source and movements in insurance contract assets and liabilities.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The successful incumbent will support IFRS 17 actuarial reporting and risk management for the product lines under the International business.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Support actuarial financial reporting for the international product lines to ensure effective completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual actuarial processes.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis in explaining earnings by source and movements in insurance contract assets and liabilities.
  • Support risk management functions, including hedge effectiveness tests, ALM assessment, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Contribute to in-force extract data updates and annual experience studies.
  • Assist in various actuarial projects as they arise.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must-Have
  • Bachelor’s degree (or above) majoring in Actuarial Science. Other relevant majors are acceptable if accompanied by demonstrated knowledge of Actuarial concepts.
  • ASA/ACIA designation or near ASA.
  • Minimum 2 years of actuarial experience with knowledge of IFRS 17 requirements.
  • Working experience and familiarity with Moody’s AXIS system.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, take initiatives and accountability in addressing issues in actuarial results by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audience.
Nice-to-Have
  • Working experience with R, Tableau, and SQL queries
