Aviva Canada is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Reserving team in the Corporate Actuarial department. This role offers a collaborative environment across actuarial disciplines and exposure to financial performance analysis.

You will analyze claim reserving using standard methods and Python-based models, support the Quarterly Reserve Committee, and maintain monitoring reports for internal and external reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of full-time actuarial experience (co-ops included).
  • Actively pursuing actuarial exams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
  • Ability to collaborate while delivering independent deliverables.
  • Clear communication and cross-team relationship building.
  • Strong Excel and VBA skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the adequacy of claim reserve levels using standard actuarial methods and advanced reserving models including machine learning techniques using Python.
  • Support the Quarterly Reserve Committee and Year-end Valuation reports.
  • Maintain monitoring reports for both internal and external reporting.
  • Provide insights into the company's financial performance from a reserving perspective.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to understand reserving impacts on portfolio performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency in current processes.

The Opportunity

Aviva Canada is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Reserving team within the Corporate Actuarial department. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, dynamic environment with exposure across multiple actuarial disciplines.

In this position, you will contribute to critical reserving analysis while developing your technical capabilities. You will work closely with partners across the business and gain insight into how actuarial reserving supports financial performance and strategic decision making.

What you'll do:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $70,000 to $95,000 . Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
