Responsibilities

  • Supervise siblings of clients in the SNAP program and ensure safety.

  • Prepare snacks and refreshments and ensure delivery to groups.
  • Participate in briefs with SNAP staff and plan activities for ages 2–12.
  • Greet families, accompany children to Activity Group, and maintain attendance records.
  • Ensure Activity Group spaces are cleaned and secure after each shift.

Who we need

CDI is looking for Activity Group Leaders (AGL) to join the SNAP teams who will be responsible to provide programming and support for the siblings of clients participating in the SNAP clinical programs.

Activity Group Leaders (AGL) provides programming and support for the siblings of clients participating in the SNAP clinical programs. This position requires the skills to plan and deliver fun and engaging activities for children ages 2-12. The AGL also helps prepares healthy snacks for the Activity and SNAP groups and clean up at the end of the night. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Activity Group Support Worker and SNAP clinical staff to ensure the needs of each child are met in the Activity Group.

This is a non-bargaining casual contract position requires to work flexible evening hours. Hours are not guaranteed.

What the role is all about...
  • Accepts and works within the framework of the Institute’s stated vision, mission, values and goals
  • Overall responsibility to supervise the siblings of clients in the SNAP program, participating in the Activity Group ensuring their safety and security
  • Monitors participant behaviours and ensures proactive intervention to avoid potential behavioural escalations
  • Ensures that food and drinks are available to prepare snacks and refreshments for participants in the Activity Group and SNAP Groups and are delivered to groups when required
  • Participates in pre-briefs and post briefs with SNAP Supervisor and staff as required
  • Plans and implements activities for children age 2-12 with Activity Group Facilitators
  • Meets and greets families and accompanies children to Activity Group
  • Maintains attendance records for ministry reporting and makes the record available to SNAP clinical staff on request
  • Ensures that Activity Group spaces are clean and secure following each shift

  • Must be Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A second language is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Other Requirements

Mental Effort
  • Mental effort required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require constant refocusing.
  • Mental flexibility required to lead a group program with a number of components (briefing, meet & greet, dinner, interactive, group, goodnight, documentation, debriefing) requiring ability to support and adapt to client and team needs
  • Manage crisis situations, as needed following agency policies, child welfare and health and safety standards
Physical Effort
  • Standing and moving for the majority of the shift
  • Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required
Working Conditions
  • Governed by concurrent and dynamic deadlines, despite conflicting priorities and frequent interruptions
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
  • Fast-paced work environment.
  • Flexible hours, evening work required.
Compensation

$23.34 per hour. Hours are not guaranteed. Work will be scheduled as needed.
