Job summary

Yee Hong in Toronto is seeking an Activation Worker to plan and conduct daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home, reflecting a resident-centred approach to improve quality of life.

Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, you will coordinate activities, collaborate with staff, and ensure programs are meaningful within a tight budget; CPR, Food Handler and Vulnerable Sector checks are expected, along with fluency in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Diploma in recreation or related field.
• Social/long-term care experience is an asset.
• Activation/geriatric program experience.
• Creative, budget-conscious programming.
• Strong customer service and teamwork.
• Computer literacy; Chinese word processing asset.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Current Food Handler Safety certificate.
• Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Fluency in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily activation, recreation and social programs for residents.

Job description

This posting is available for all time (Full Time, Part Time, Casual) and shift (Days, Evenings, Nights) types.

Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization's resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents' quality of life in the Home.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent
• Experience in a social services or long-term care setting an asset
• Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs, preferably working with the geriatric population
• Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programs for clients within a tight budget
• Superb customer service skills. Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner.
• Computer literacy. Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset
• Current CPR Certificate
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
• Ability to communicate in English and Chinese

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

• Some lifting and transfer
• Occasional travel within the Greater Toronto Area
• Use of own Vehicle

Salary Range:

$21.97 - $24.51
