Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking an Acoustics Consultant/Engineer in Calgary. You will perform environmental noise and vibration assessments, field measurements, and report writing for industrial, land-use, and transportation projects. Mentorship is provided as you develop modelling and data analysis skills.

You’ll collaborate across SLR’s One Team, engage with clients and regulators, and contribute to project success and business development, with a strong focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, physics, or related studies.
• Professional status or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng.) is an asset.
• 3-8 years’ experience in acoustics, noise, and vibration consulting is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental noise and vibration assessments including noise permitting for industrial/manufacturing facilities, land use planning, transportation noise for road, rail and aircraft acoustic and vibration measurements, analyze data, and develop modelling predictions.
• Conduct field measurements in challenging environments throughout the year.
• Prepare clear, high quality technical reports and supporting documentation.
• Assist with instrumentation setup, maintenance, calibration, and software applications used in acoustics, noise, and vibration studies.
• Support the development of new models, tools, and analytical methods.
• Work closely with consultants, engineers, project managers, and technical specialists across SLR’s “One Team” environment.
• Maintain positive, professional communication with clients, and regulators.
• Contribute to SLR’s strong industry reputation through excellent delivery and relationship building.
• Monitor your utilization goals and contribute to the financial success of project work.
• Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals, gathering project information, and assisting senior staff in client engagements.
