Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking an Acoustics Consultant/Engineer to conduct environmental noise and vibration assessments, perform field measurements, and develop modelling predictions.

You will prepare high-quality technical reports, assist with instrumentation, and support tool development while collaborating across SLR’s One Team environment for client deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, physics, or related studies.
  • Professional status or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng.) is an asset.
  • 3-8 years' experience in acoustics, noise, and vibration consulting is an asset.
  • Knowledge of noise and vibration measurement, prediction, or evaluation methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental noise and vibration assessments and permitting.
  • Perform field measurements and develop modelling predictions.
  • Prepare clear technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with instrumentation setup, maintenance, calibration, and software apps.

Job description

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 1000+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory services with over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Acoustics Consultant/Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Technical + Project Work

Conduct environmental noise and vibration assessments including noise permitting for industrial/ manufacturing facilities, land use planning, transportation noise for road, rail and aircraft acoustic and vibration measurements, analyze data, and develop modelling predictions. Conduct field measurements in challenging environments throughout the year; Prepare clear, high quality technical reports and supporting documentation. Assist with instrumentation setup, maintenance, calibration, and software applications used in acoustics, noise, and vibration studies. Support the development of new models, tools, and analytical methods.

Collaboration + Communication

Work closely with consultants, engineers, project managers, and technical specialists across SLR's "One Team" environment. Maintain positive, professional communication with clients, and regulators. Contribute to SLR's strong industry reputation through excellent delivery and relationship building.

Project & Business Exposure

Monitor your utilization goals and contribute to the financial success of project work. Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals, gathering project information, and assisting senior staff in client engagements.

Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location. Qualifications/Education/Memberships

Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, physics, or related studies. Professional status or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng.) is an asset. 3-8 years' experience in acoustics, noise, and vibration consulting is considered an asset. Understanding of noise and vibration measurement, prediction, or evaluation methodologies. Experience with acoustic modelling tools (e.g., Insul, CadnaA, CATT, Odeon, EASE, SAP2000, Visual Basic, MATLAB or Python for signal processing) is an asset. Knowledge of provincial, local, and industry specific regulations and guidelines. Strong communication, problem solving skills, and a collaborative mindset. Awareness of workplace Health & Safety requirements. Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically to job sites.
