Position Summary:
The Senior Purchaser is responsible for managing the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of greenhouse and gardening products from domestic and international suppliers. This role plays a key part in ensuring that inventory levels align with customer demand while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance. The Senior Purchaser works closely with CEO, sales, marketing and warehouse teams to maintain supply chain efficiency and support the company’s growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and manage supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and reliable delivery schedules.
-Forecast purchasing needs based on sales trends, inventory levels, and seasonal demands.
-Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with manufacturers and distributors.
-Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery delays, or non-compliance.
-Coordinate with internal teams (sales, warehouse, logistics) to ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of orders.
-Identify and evaluate new products or alternative suppliers to enhance product offering and reduce costs.
-Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and documentation requirements.
-Manage purchase orders, confirmations, and adjustments within the company’s ERP system (e.g., SAP B1).
-Analyse purchasing data and prepare reports on cost savings, supplier metrics, and purchasing trends.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the CEO or executive team.
Qualifications:
-Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in wholesale distribution, greenhouse, horticulture, or related industries.
-Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
-Experience with domestic and international sourcing (including Asia/Europe supply chains).
-Solid understanding of inventory management and supply chain operations.
-Proficient with ERP systems (SAP B1 or similar) and MS Office (Excel, Outlook).
-Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
