Position Overview

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a full-time, limited-term Accreditation & Quality Assurance Specialist for approximately 24 months. Join a passionate team dedicated to advancing veterinary education and animal health, impacting student success, institutional reputation, and the future of veterinary medicine.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Business Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Accreditation Preparation and Compliance: Lead self-study preparations, monitor quality assurance projects, verify submissions, interpret findings, organize accreditation site visits, and support implementation of review recommendations.
  2. Standards Monitoring and Documentation: Ensure adherence to AVMA COE standards, track changes in accreditation requirements, and maintain organized records of all accreditation activities.
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration and Training: Provide consultation, training, and guidance to internal partners on accreditation policies and standards.
  4. Curriculum and Program Development: Support the conceptualization and review of academic programs, ensuring alignment with standards and emerging trends.
  5. Data Management and Quality Improvement: Collect and analyze data to support reporting, decision-making, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  6. External Engagement and Consultation: Offer expertise to external organizations on accreditation processes and standards.
  7. Budget Management: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations to manage spending and provide quarterly budget updates.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Veterinary Science, Education, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of experience in accreditation, compliance, or quality assurance, preferably in veterinary or medical education.
  • Familiarity with AVMA COE standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with data management and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with University of Calgary or veterinary settings is an asset.
