Job summary

Soo Mill and Lumber Company Limited in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is seeking an organized Accounts Receivable Clerk to support our growing accounting team. You will balance cash, apply payments, and help customers with billing and credit questions.

This permanent full-time role requires 3–5 years in receivables or accounting, strong numerical skills, and a team-oriented attitude. BisTrack experience is a plus, and we offer a competitive salary, benefits, and pension.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a receivable or accounting position required.
• Experience in accounts receivable, collections, credit or a similar accounting/customer service role.
• Discretion and good judgment when handling sensitive account and credit information.
• Clear, confident communication — deliver tough news kindly and ask the right questions.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly (BisTrack a plus).
• Ability to juggle daily deadlines and month-end crunches.
• Genuine team-player attitude and interest in helping customers.

Responsibilities

• Receive and apply customer payments by mail, in office, online and by EFT for Sault Ste. Marie and Elliot Lake locations.
• Balance tills, count daily cash deposits, and complete daily bank reconciliations in BisTrack.
• Process customer credit applications and liaise with credit agencies and our Controller on account approvals.
• Review overdue accounts, make friendly-but-firm collection calls, and help customers get back on track.
• Prepare month-end statements, HST remittances, and other required records.
• Partner with our sales team to sort out pricing, credit and account set-up questions.
• Keep customer account information accurate, organized and strictly confidential.
