Job description

Location: Remote; Candidate must be based in British Columbia

Mako Mining Corp. is a publicly listed gold mining, development and exploration company. The Company operates the high-grade San Albino gold mine in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, which ranks as one of the highest-grade open pit gold mines globally and offers district-scale exploration potential. Mako also owns the Moss Mine in Arizona, an open pit gold mine in northwestern Arizona. Mako also holds a 100% interest in the PEA-stage Eagle Mountain Project in Guyana, South America.

Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable & Treasury Accountant will be a key member of the corporate finance team, responsible for managing the end-to-end accounts payable process and supporting treasury operations for the parent company. This role ensures the efficient processing of vendor payments, cash flow forecasting, banking administration, and supports broader financial operations in a dynamic, fast-paced, public company environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate with finance teams located at regional offices.

Key Responsibilities*:

• Process and verify invoices and expense reports, ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and timely payments.
• Maintain vendor master files and manage vendor inquiries.
• Support monthly AP close activities, including reconciliations and accruals.
• Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations and invoicing.
• Manage wire transfers, EFT payments, and ensure compliance with internal treasury policies.
• Reconcile bank accounts and support monthly treasury reporting.
• Maintain banking records and assist with administration of banking platforms and signatories.
• Work closely with the corporate accounting team to support period-end close and financial reporting.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls over accounts payable and treasury processes.
• Assist with ad-hoc accounting, finance and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous relevant experience in accounts payable, treasury, or corporate accounting functions.
• Experience working in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
• Experience in mining or natural resources sector is a strong asset.
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP, is an asset.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders across different locations.

Compensation:

• Salary: CAD $55,000 - $65,000 annually
• Discretionary performance bonus.
• Competitive benefits package.
