Accounts Payable Clerk I
FULL-TIME POSITION (35 hours/week) – temporary until return of incumbent
The Accounting Clerk I is responsible for the full-cycle processing of invoices and other related documents for payment. The Accounting Clerk I also performs a variety of general clerical duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes invoices and employee expense reimbursements in a timely manner while ensuring proper authorization and GL coding are obtained. If applicable, matches invoices to packing slips and purchase orders, checks for accuracy and completeness, proper authorization, and coding. Investigates any discrepancies prior to processing. Validates vendor information and payment terms for data entry.
- Reviews, investigates and adjusts discrepancies in accounts payable batches.
- Performs regular payment runs and prepares cheques for mailout.
- Assists with vendor file database maintenance. Assists with T4A vendor analysis and preparation as required.
- Assists with investigating open purchase orders. Investigates inquiries from suppliers, auditors, and district staff concerning accounts payable issues and resolves any issues.
- Reconciles vendor statements to payment records, identifies outstanding items and contacts suppliers regarding outstanding orders.
- Performs Accounts Receivable related tasks and functions.
- Processes district and school donations received outside of School Cash and issues tax receipts to
donors.
- Provides relief of District Reception.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Post-secondary courses in accounting plus two years accounts payable and/or receivable experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Sound knowledge of accounts payable practices and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
- Thorough knowledge of office procedures.
This position is 35 hours/week. Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:00. This position offers a competitive salary of $33.00 per hour and a benefit package. Please send resume and cover letter in ONE pdf document to:
