Job description

Valard is Canada’s premier utility contractor, part of the Valard Group of Companies and the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard offers full-service capabilities in transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

The Accounts Payable (AP) Administrator is responsible for processing invoices accurately and timely, and assisting with month-end reporting.

Responsibilities and Activities
  1. Resolve issues with disputed vendor invoices.
  2. Process two-way and three-way purchase order/invoice matching.
  3. Respond to vendor inquiries, reconcile statements, and correct discrepancies on AP vouchers.
  4. Code costs, and process payments via cheque, EFT, or online payment.
  5. Complete setup forms for EFTs and online payments.
  6. Attach proper supporting documents to invoices.
  7. Ensure invoices meet corporate signing limits.
  8. Prioritize invoices based on cash discounts and payment terms.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Maintain passwords for online portals related to major projects.
  11. Assist in retrieving backup documents for audits.
Additional Duties
  1. Maintain RNV reports (Received Not Vouchered).
  2. Provide month-end accruals and reports as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Education
  1. Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration is an asset.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in large accounts payable departments.
  3. Proficient with spreadsheets, word processing, and web applications.
  4. Experience with JD Edwards is an asset.
  5. Strong communication skills.
  6. Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and reliability.
  8. Organized, self-starter, with good filing and documentation skills.
  9. Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Attention to detail and professionalism.
  11. Good organizational and time management skills.
  12. Ability to interact professionally with employees and vendors.
  13. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and data analysis.
  14. Mathematical proficiency for calculations.

  16. Experience with processing wires, direct deposits, and month-end reporting.
