Job summary

Cenovus Energy, Calgary, is seeking an Accounts Payable & Employee Expense Administrator to manage the full AP lifecycle and review employee expense claims. You will coordinate with vendors, ensure policy compliance, and support month-end close in a fast-paced environment.

  • Perform reconciliations, investigate variances, and support month-end close and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for processes and automation.

About this opportunity

Reporting to the Team Lead, Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable & Employee Expense Administrator is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and employee expense claims. This role supports the full accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice validation, coding, payment processing, expense claim review, account reconciliations, supplier maintenance, and month-end activities. The position also serves as a key contact for vendor and employee inquiries, resolves discrepancies, and supports compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do
  • Manage the full accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice receipt, validation, coding, routing, processing, and payment support.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, purchase order mismatches, duplicate payments, and vendor inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain supplier records and support vendor onboarding and master data maintenance activities.
  • Review, process, and audit employee expense claims to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and approval requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee expense inquiries, providing guidance and support on expense policies and submissions.
  • Perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, automation, efficiency, and service delivery.
Who you are
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, expense management, or a related financial operations role.
  • A certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with SAP, Concur, or similar ERP and expense management systems.
