Job summary

Cenovus Energy in Lloydminster is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support mechanical maintenance across Canadian downstream assets and develop repair specifications for equipment upgrades. The role includes fitness-for-service input and capital project support.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed P.Eng (APEGA/APEGS) with 8+ years in reliability/maintenance engineering in Oil & Gas, and must be willing to reside in the Lloydminster area; safety sensitive with pre-employment

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (APEGA or APEGS).
• Minimum 8 years in reliability or maintenance engineering in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with stationary and/or rotating equipment preferred.
• Welding knowledge and related codes (ASME IX) are assets.
• Knowledge of materials used in upgrader/refinery environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for stationary and rotating equipment maintenance.
• Prepare repair and alteration documentation meeting codes and standards.
• Lead small projects from scope through implementation for cost-effective performance.

About this opportunity

The Maintenance Engineer provides technical support for the mechanical maintenance of the Canadian Downstream Assets. This role develops technical specifications for maintenance repairs and replacements involving stationary and rotating equipment. Provides technical support for capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades involving stationary and rotating equipment. As well as supports the Asset Integrity team by performing stationary equipment fitness for service assessments and development of repair strategies.

• This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

What you’ll do

• Provide technical support for stationary and rotating equipment across Canadian Downstream business units, including troubleshooting, repair recommendations, reliability improvements and engineering input for maintenance and capital projects
• Prepare repair and alteration documentation for stationary and rotating equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards and company requirements
• Execute discipline-specific and small-scale projects from scope development through implementation, supporting safe, reliable and cost-effective equipment performance
• Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Asset Integrity and internal subject matter experts to assess equipment issues, review inspection findings, identify root causes and develop practical repair strategies

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Licensed Professional Engineer registered with APEGA or APEGS (P.Eng)
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a reliability or maintenance engineering role within Oil & Gas or similar industry
• Experience with stationary and/or rotating equipment, including relevant design, inspection and repair codes and standards, is considered an asset
• Welding knowledge, including weld procedures and heat treatment; CWB Welding Inspector certification and ASME Section IX experience are considered assets
• Knowledge of common materials used for stationary and rotating equipment in upgrader, refinery or similar environments

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
