Our company is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the full accounting cycle and ensuring accurate financial records.

Employment Type : Full-time Location : Cobourg

Key Responsibilities :

Daily Operations

  • Process and record all financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoice processing and payment scheduling
  • Handle accounts receivable, including customer billing and payment collection
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial records
  • Create and distribute financial reports as needed

Monthly Procedures

  • Perform complete month-end closing procedures
  • Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
  • Analyze and resolve account discrepancies
  • Generate monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
  • Prepare management reports with financial analysis
  • Calculate and process sales tax returns
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation
  • Analyze Inventory and WIP reports and coordinate with production teams
  • Identify and investigate inventory discrepancies
  • Support improvement of inventory control processes

Payroll Management

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees
  • Maintain employee payroll records and process any changes

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with annual budget preparation and forecasting
  • Prepare and file tax forms and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures and controls
  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts
  • Process expense reports and employee reimbursements
  • Assist with financial analysis for business decisions
  • Perform ad hoc financial projects as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Associate's degree or certificate in accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take initiative in problem-solving
  • Proven track record of proactively identifying process improvements and implementing solutions
  • Ability to self-manage multiple priorities and projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong self-motivation and willingness to take ownership of the accounting function
