Kassen Recruitment is helping a respected organization in the building services industry find an Accounting Supervisor to join its Finance team in Burlington, Canada. This role balances hands-on accounting with leadership responsibilities, mentoring team members and overseeing essential processes in a multi-entity setting.

Reporting to the Controller, you will supervise day-to-day activities, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems; exposure to cloud-based ERP platforms is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, accrual accounting, reconciliations, and indirect tax compliance.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative environments.
  • Proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable function with guidance to the team and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank transactions, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheets.
  • Coordinate indirect tax filings and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage vendor and customer account setup and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Reconcile lease-related transactions and other key accounting schedules.
  • Support intercompany accounting and month-end close.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit preparations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with finance colleagues and cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
  • Contribute to special projects and other accounting initiatives as required.
