Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Controller to oversee the close, consolidation, and financial reporting across multiple entities. You will manage intercompany eliminations, ensure policy adherence, and lead the external audit process, while mentoring a small accounting team.

Ideal candidates have 8–12+ years in corporate accounting with multi-entity experience, strong technical skills, and hands-on ERP experience (SAGE 300).

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in industry.
  • Strong background in corporate accounting, consolidations, and multi-entity environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external audits.
  • Prior experience supervising and developing accounting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and group consolidation.
  • Own intercompany accounting, eliminations, and end-to-end consolidation across entities.
  • Maintain internal controls, policies, and documentation.
  • Lead external audit process from planning to working papers.
  • Mentor 2–3 direct reports and foster a hands-on accounting culture.
  • Serve as finance lead for SAGE 300 and drive process improvements.

About the Opportunity
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across all entities, including full ownership of group consolidation and reporting Prepare and review internal and external financial statements in accordance with ASPE and applicable standards
  • Own intercompany accounting, eliminations, and the end-to-end consolidation process across all entities Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation
  • Ensure consistency of accounting policies, processes, and reporting standards across all entities
  • Audit & External Relations
  • Lead the external audit process end-to-end, including audit planning, coordination, preparation of consolidated financial statements, and preparation of working papers
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party professionals
  • Support year-end financial statement preparation and related disclosures
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Manage and mentor 2-3 direct reports (senior accountant(s) / accounting manager level)
  • Set clear expectations, review work, and support professional development within the team
  • Foster a hands-on, detail-oriented, and collaborative accounting culture
  • Systems & Process Improvement
  • Act as a finance lead for SAGE 300, ensuring data integrity and efficient use of the system
  • Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reporting, and strengthen controls
  • Support process improvements as the organization continues to scale
  • Ad Hoc & Strategic Support
  • Partner with operations and senior leadership on financial analysis and special projects
  • Provide accounting support for new entities, restructuring, or internal initiatives as required
About You
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in industry
  • Strong background in corporate accounting, consolidations, and multi-entity environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing external audits
  • Prior experience supervising and developing accounting staff
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience in industrial services, construction, manufacturing, or asset-intensive businesses
  • Hands-on experience with SAGE 300 or similar mid-market ERP systems
  • Background in both public accounting and private industry environments
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on role within a growing, entrepreneurial business
Salary Range

$155,000 - $165,000 / year
