Qualifications

About the role

Accounting Specialist, Direct Distribution

We’re looking for someone to join our growing team as an Accounting Specialist in supporting the Direct Distribution business unit.

As a member of the finance team, you will work with multiple stakeholders to produce and analyze insurance results and expenses, providing accurate information to DD stakeholders in a timely manner and supporting the strategic objectives of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the budgeting process for insurance results and expenses.
  • Review actual results and prepare forecasts in collaboration with different stakeholders within the business unit.
  • Prepare insurance results and expenses reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and information monthly.
  • Participate in the month end closing process including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and controls.
  • Participate in ad-hoc requests and strategic projects.
  • Maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with audit background.
  • Strong analytical ability, very well organized and rigorous.
  • Proactive, meticulous, and willing to adapt to change.
  • Works well in a team dynamic; individuals working towards a common goal.
  • Interpersonal skills: the ideal candidate must be able to build strong relationships while being tactful.
  • Strong communication skills: Must be comfortable and proficient in presenting to groups.
  • Expert MS Excel knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Hyperion would be considered an asset.
