Job Description

HUB International Limited, a North American leader in the insurance industry, is hiring an Accounting Manager. This newly created position will focus on mitigating business risks by ensuring business units are in compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, contractual agreements, and external regulations. The Accounting Manager will work under the direction of the VP, Canada Divisional Controller and will collaborate with internal and external auditors and management teams across the company.

Short-term Goals

• Improve and streamline current workflows across diverse business segments.
• System migrations, where applicable.
• Build a cohesive team dynamic, ensuring sufficient segregation, coverage, and support.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the various accounting teams across Canada.
• Manage month‑end deliverables, both locally and corporately.
• Maintain and implement internal and SOX controls.
• Coordinate with internal and external audit parties.
• Perform in‑house reviews and audits to ensure adherence to policy and procedure.
• Provide guidance to team members and intervene as necessary.
• Liaise with operations and executive management for finance‑related inquiries.
• Maintain and distribute reporting and analysis related to financial and operational metrics.
• Coordinate transaction processing in our Business Management System.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial and operational analysis to support business decisions.
• Research, identify, and communicate key variances in financial and operational metrics.
• Improve and implement new reporting as requested.
• Manage financial aspects of current and future mergers and acquisitions.
• Implement procedural changes to improve workflows and increase efficiency.
• Liaise with corporate finance to ensure compliance with all corporate requirements.
• Perform various other assignments as required.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience, preferably with a nationally recognized public accounting or insurance brokerage firm.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently and in a group setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Adaptability to a changing environment and capacity to handle multiple priorities.
• Strong change management skills.
• Strong people skills.

Location

This position is a hybrid role located in Woodbridge or Oakville, ON.

Benefits

Expected salary range $95,000 to $120,000. Other benefits include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid‑time‑off benefits, eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
