Job summary

Serruya Private Equity seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to support financial operations in our Food Sector. This hands-on, multi-entity role reports to the VP of Finance and currently leads a team of 2–3 staff, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of accounting experience, 2+ in leadership, and is actively enrolled in or pursuing a CPA. You will drive month-end close, financial statement prep, and CRA compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Active enrollment in or pursuit of CPA designation (CPA preferred).
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reporting.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations for the assigned sector.
• Revenue reconciliation and Accounts receivable.
• Review accounts payable and ensure coding and policy compliance.
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Third‑party reporting.
• Royalty and license fee calculations (if applicable).
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes and meet closing deadlines.
• Prepare monthly management reports and variance analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ensure CRA compliance, including GST/HST and statutory filings.
• Support year‑end audits and work with external accountants on tax filings and planning.
• Lead the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to provide financial insights.
• Lead, mentor, and support a small accounting team.

About the Role

Serruya Private Equity is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to support financial operations within our Food Sector division. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting activities, currently leading a team of 2-3 staff, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment and is ready to grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations for the assigned sector, including:

• Reviewing accounts payables from payment team and make sure coding’s correct and policy is followed
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Third‑party reporting

Preferred / Asset Experience

• Food & beverage, retail, or franchised business experience
• Royalty or licensing accounting exposure
