Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• University degree in Commerce or Accounting.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a public accounting firm.
• Strong experience preparing financial statements and tax returns.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, tax legislation, and assurance standards.
• Proficiency with Caseware and Profile (experience with Sage/QuickBooks/Xero is an asset).
• Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
• Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and review junior staff work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review audit and review engagements and non-assurance financial statements with appropriate disclosures.
• Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), and other tax returns (T3, T4, T5, etc.).
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, tax legislation, and professional standards.
• Review working paper files and provide detailed review notes for quality control purposes.
• Mentor and support junior staff in file preparation and use of Caseware and Sage.
• Provide advisory support to clients on tax, payroll, CRA matters, and general business inquiries.
• Assist with practice management functions, including monitoring updates to CPA standards and tax rules.
• Participate in client meetings and occasional local travel as required.
