Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline; CPA pathway.
  • CPA designation or active CPA progression.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, or related finance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with month-end closing, reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial/ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and cost-accounting principles.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Hyperion Financial Management, relational databases, and Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Excel macros, Visual Basic, SQL queries, automation, or other financial reporting/data-analysis tools.
  • Leadership or coaching experience within accounting/finance teams.
  • Japanese-language proficiency is an asset where it supports communication with Japan-based stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the month-end closing to ensure financial statements are accurately reported in coordination with company policy and GAAP
  • Provide guidance and support to Accounting and Finance team members as required
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Control, Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Human Resources, and other departments on financial matters
  • Support the Finance/Accounting Manager with financial analysis, special projects, process improvements, and departmental priorities
  • Promote continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes and reporting
  • Perform other related duties, special projects, and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned
  • Verifies ERP modules and sub-modules interfacing with the general ledger
  • Tracks closing journal entries to ensure proper posting and reversal
  • Reviews the trial balance and reconciliations to reflect true financial positions
  • Reports on financial results to Plant Management and Corporate Head Office
  • Completes reporting packages using Hyperion Financial Management
  • Analyzes results vs plan and forecast with insightful commentary
  • Participate in monthly Cost Committee meetings discussing KPIs and financial results
  • Leads annual planning and monthly forecasts based on performance indicators
  • Hosts audits with Internal Controls and external auditors as required
  • Maintains key controls documentation and measures actual processes against controls
  • Validates perpetual inventory reflects all inventory transactions
  • Ensures bill of materials and standard costs are accurate and relevant
  • Leads physical inventory events with Production Control
  • Hosts annual fixed asset audit of all plant capital
  • Any other ad-hoc functions and reporting as requested

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • CPA designation or active progression and advance standing in CPA program through a recognized CPA pathway.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, or a related finance function.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end closing, account reconciliations, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and cost-accounting principles.
  • Previous accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Hyperion Financial Management, relational databases, and Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Excel macros, Visual Basic, SQL queries, automation, or other financial reporting/data-analysis tools.
  • Previous experience providing leadership, coaching, or guidance to accounting or finance team members.
  • Japanese-language proficiency is considered an asset where it supports communication with Japan-based business stakeholders.

  • Facilitates and monitors internal control measures by maintaining documents of key controls and measuring the actual processes against the controls
  • Validates the perpetual inventory is reflective of all inventory transactions (i.e. shipping, receiving, transfers and scrap)
  • Ensures bill of materials and standard costs are accurate and relevant to business conditions (i.e. Annual cost roll, new products and engineering changes)
  • Leads physical inventory events in coordination with the plant Production Control team
  • Hosts annual fixed asset audit of all plant capital
  • Any other ad-hoc functions and reporting as requested
